Abaqus Geotechnical Analysis

In this introductory course, the students would learn to model and analyze problems related to various geotechnical structures using the commercial finite element (FE) package, Abaqus. On completion of the course, the students will be able to model as well as discretize various geotechnical structures, perform analyses considering various soil types, establish contact between foundation and soil, apply appropriate boundary conditions, determine stresses in soil, determine bearing capacities of shallow and deep foundations in 3D and deal with convergence issues.
